Amazon Basics Portable Blackout Curtain Shades — Black 50 x 78 in, 2-Pack; Suction-Cup & Energy-Saving

Designed for quick installation and simple removal, this two-pack of blackout curtain shades fits most smooth glass windows and measures 50 inches wide by 78 inches long per panel. Constructed from 100% polyester, the panels create a darkened environment while adding an insulating layer that helps moderate temperatures. The compact design folds into a travel bag for on-the-go use, and Velcro tabs along the edges let you tailor the fit to varied window sizes without drilling or permanent hardware.

How do these curtains cut light and improve room comfort?

The dense polyester weave and full-length coverage minimize incoming sunlight and glare for better sleep or screen viewing. They also form a barrier between window glass and interior air, which can reduce drafts and help maintain indoor temperatures.

• Opaque polyester fabric blocks most visible light and UV rays
• Full-panel coverage prevents gaps around the window frame
• Insulating layer helps lower heat transfer through the glass

How easy is installation and removal without tools?

Each curtain uses attached suction cups to stick directly to smooth glass, requiring no screws, rods, or adhesives. Velcro tabs let you trim or overlap panels for a snug fit, and the suction release makes removal fast and residue-free—ideal for rentals or temporary setups.

• Included suction cups mount to clean, flat windows in minutes
• Velcro tabs adjust width and secure overlap for custom coverage
• Quick detachment keeps windows undamaged when removed

Will these panels reduce outside noise and are they travel-friendly?

While not a replacement for heavy acoustic treatments, the fabric and snug fit help dampen high-frequency sounds and reduce the perception of street noise. The curtains fold compactly into the supplied travel bag, making them a convenient option for hotel rooms, temporary housing, or moving between spaces.

• Thickness and full coverage lessen ambient light and soften sound
• Lightweight polyester packs into the included travel bag
• Suction cups and Velcro mean no extra tools when relocating

How should I care for these blackout shades to keep them effective?

The panels are machine washable on cold and should be line-dried to maintain shape and blackout performance. Avoid bleach, ironing, or dry cleaning to preserve the fabric’s integrity and the suction cup adhesion over repeated uses.

• Machine wash cold on gentle cycle
• Line dry; do not tumble dry or iron
• Avoid bleach and dry cleaning to protect blackout coating

Who is this best suited for? These Amazon Basics blackout curtain shades are ideal for renters, frequent travelers, shift workers, students, and anyone who needs a temporary, no-drill solution to darken windows and add a modest insulating layer. They work well in bedrooms, nurseries, hotel rooms, and anywhere you want quick light control and easier installation than permanent window treatments.
